Key job responsibilities
The Manufacturing Engineer will lead a team of technicians through the final satellite integration operations at the launch site with various launch providers. This individual will work closely with other operations and satellite manufacturing teams.
The Manufacturing Engineer implements test requirements supports facility and equipment planning at launch sites authors procedures implements process controls and supports continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate is comfortable in a highly technical critical and collaborative setting and is able to interpret technical requirements and turn them into actionable steps.
Key job responsibilities
Planning work for satellite integration optimized for critical path
Planning material flow and implementing manufacturing processes for satellite integration
Continuously improving satellite integration and test processes
Interfacing with launch providers
Evaluating and improving takt time
Authoring and implementing work instructions and standard processes
Resolving anomalies and implementing corrective actions
Operations will occur primarily on first shift Monday-Friday but off-shift and weekend work will be required depending on launch manifest
Must be willing and able to perform extended travel up to 25% annually either domestically or internationally as business needs demand
A day in the life
The satellite integration Manufacturing Engineer will spend the majority of their day on the shop floor or at the launch pads leading their team through satellite integration operations. They will work with other engineering teams both internally and externally to execute operations on critical path. They will address root cause of failures and issues and implement production control and optimization strategies. They will implement engineering best practices in a safe and repeatable manner implement efficiency improvements and reduce non-conformances.

- 2 years of hardware design and validation of components subsystems and systems experience
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering electrical engineering material science physics or equivalent
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience with hardware/software integration and real-time systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $86900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
