The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is looking for Staff Auditor I to assist with various financial audits performed on entities across state government including institutions of higher education.


OSA is the states Fiscal Watchdog. We hold state government and entities that receive public money accountable working on behalf of North Carolinians to eliminate waste fraud and abuse.


This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefitsincluding:

As part of our team you will get to:

  • Participate in planning meetings for assigned audits where the team discusses audit risk and designs audit procedures to address the risks
  • Conduct on-site fieldwork including gaining an understanding of internal controls
  • Analyze accounting transactions and perform test procedures
  • Continue learning to expand and develop technical skills

Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Basic knowledge of auditing and accounting principles and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree with 24 semester hours in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience
