Medical Supply Technicians - Sterile Processing (1099)
Pay rate: $35.00 /hr (1099)
ContractDuration: 1 year.
Locations:Fresno CA
Hours: Two Shifts to include: 7:00am-3:30pm and 3:00pm-11:30pm.
Personnel shall be available and present during normal VACCHCS hours which will be established and may be revised as deemed appropriate for safe patient care. Currently normal operating hours are twenty-four hours per day for 5 days per week. Based on requirements and history the schedule shifts will be 8 hours. Employees will receive their schedule 2-4 weeks in advance. This can change due to patient care needs.
- Off-hours Coverage: Personnel will not be on call.
- Length of shifts: There will be two different 8-hour shifts.
- Holidays and Overtime: There will be no holiday or overtime scheduled or authorized for payment.
Job Description:
- Sterile Processing Technicians play an essential role in the healthcare system by ensuring that surgical instruments and medical equipment are meticulously cleaned sterilized and ready for use.
- Their responsibilities include cleaning and decontaminating instruments and equipment to remove biological material blood and other contaminants adhering to guidelines and policies established by AAMI AORN FDA and OSHA and wearing appropriate PPE to prevent cross-contamination.
- They follow manufacturer instructions for use (MIFU) while inspecting instruments for damage wear or malfunction.
- Technicians operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves V-Pro machine washers and ultrasonics as per MIFU and established protocols monitoring and recording sterilization cycles to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- They reassemble reusable medical instruments according to AAMI AORN FDA and OSHA guidelines and MIFU checking each instrument for staining pitting cracking and rust.
- Instruments must be properly packaged to maintain sterility until needed and technicians prepare and label packages accurately ensuring all contents are documented.
- Maintaining accurate records of cleaning sterilization and maintenance activities is critical to ensure compliance with AAMI AORN FDA and facility protocols.
- Additionally they may be involved in training new staff members on sterile processing procedures and best practices to ensure a high standard of care.
Qualifications:
- Shall provide verifiable evidence of all educational and training experiences including any gaps in educational history for all Medical Supply Technicians.
- Shall be responsible for abiding by the Facilitys Medical Staff By -Laws rules and regulations (referenced herein) that govern the medical staff behavior.
