The Role:
Sentec a Xylem brand seeks to hire an Senior Engineering Consultant to join our talented technical team we are looking for someone with significant knowledge in our relevant areas of expertise combined with a wide range of multi-disciplinary technical skills and experience .
As a member of our team you will employ your technical skills on a wide range of projects from early-stage innovation to full product development. Projects are usually multidisciplinary and require integrating fundamental science with advanced electronic mechanical firmware and software design. Sentec operates both within the Xylem group and with a number of selected third parties including some familiar household brands. From ideation and brainstorming to prototype manufacture and production processes our clients benefit from outstanding ideas and class-leading products and services.
You will also be responsible for delivering projects to internal end external clients (both at clients sites and at Sentec offices) and support project management as well as business development activities under the guidance of our project management and business development teams. The position is largely based in our Cambridge office however you will have the opportunity for some travel this could be UK-wide within Europe or the United States.
At Sentec you will be working in a rapidly evolving industry at an exciting time for technologists developing solutions for the sustainability agenda. In order to be successful you will need to demonstrate leadership in pursuit of technical solutions and novel ideas have a hands-on approach to problem solving and ultimately managing projects against time budget and client expectations.
The role is varied and you will be required to apply your problem solving skills on a daily basis. You should enjoy participating in a dynamic team working towards deadlines and delivering excellent technical solutions. You will be required to communicate effectively in a wide range of environments both with colleagues and clients and will have the opportunity to develop your negotiation skills and expand your technical knowledge.
Minimum Qualifications: Education Experience Skills Abilities License/Certification:
Experience in the development of new products and platforms ideally in a consultancy role or similar
Experience in early-stage technology validation and prototyping
Strong collaboration skills and capability to work in and lead multidisciplinary teams
Proven experience in delivering projects or work packages to tight timescales and above client expectations.
Comfortable communicating at all levels both internally and with external clients
A Degree (2.1 or above or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or engineering subject and previous industry experience
Desirable Skills/Knowledge:
Knowledgeable in embedded system hardware design
Experience in mechanical design and rapid prototyping methods
Understanding of physical systems and metrology
Understanding of analogue signal chain design and simulation signal processing and filtering both in digital and analogue domains
Familiarity with C/C for microprocessor coding to facilitate mixed signal design
Experience in selling and operating consultancy projects
Familiarity with project scoping and planning
Experience in managing projects ensuring milestones delivery within time and budget
Experience in planning executing and delivering lab testing activities
