Job Purpose:
This position will work in Cat Technology China Engine & Power System team as engine control technical lead engineer.
As a engine control lead engineer you will be partnering with Cat electronics engine team and other Cat internal teams to responsible for the engine NPI/NTI/NSI/CPI this role you will perform engineering assignments while building a detailed knowledge of the Electrical and Electronic Systems on Caterpillars engine products and the technologies that they enable. Leading the lab-based sub system validation effort.
Job Duties:
Work closely with NPI team to define customer requirement lead in concept design design review engine and machine validation field test during product development
Develop engine electrical system & subsystem concepts lead design review activity for NPI/NSI program strong capability to resolve NP issues
Engine component and sub system understanding like Fuel. Air A/T system
Understand engine control logic and architecture capability to perform control schematic base on customer requirement
Performing spec reviews with system engineers to determine test coverage & priorities confirm HW/SW test requirement and priority
Feedback SW test problem raise CRM track activities
Troubleshooting and tech support for engine test cell and other teams
Follow Cat flash file release process and management tools status tracking
Understand governor and other sub system calibration process
Conduct APQP activities with internal and external partners
Lead Electrical system NPINTI CPI cost reduction and maintenance activity
Generate Engine E&E system DVP&R and conduct related validation activity
Understand HIL validation process which include test bench setup create test plan perform test base on requirement summarize and analyze test result
Summarize regulatory documents to ensure product to meet regulator requirement
Generate FMEA for NPI project and have regular update in system
Production document review which include TAN EDR A&I guide etc.
Working with System engineers to test and troubleshoot new software & hardware issues in lab and proving grounds.
Provide factory support to Cat engine / machine facility troubleshooting on factory stations and hot test issue hardware harness ECM support
Project Engine support & Customer issue fix and support
Background/Experience
Bachelor degree or above in Internal Combustion Engine or Vehicle Engineering or equivalent. engineering
> 8 years of previous experience in Engineering function(preferred engine related)
Position requires excellent engine control knowledge.
Technical expert on hardware & software development and validation
Learning quickly willing to learn new technology
Knowledge of more than one engineering function technology component system product or process is required.
Diligent proactive self-motived and open-minded
Excellent in English (oral & written)
Strong initiative communication interpersonal teamwork skills.
Desired qualifications
Good knowledge of internal combustion engine structure engine performance engine test and test equipment.
Engine Development experience
Software Development Experience utilizing C C or Simulink
3D design experience preferred Pro/E or Creo
Experience with Python scripting
Engine E&E control knowledge
Engine Emission knowledge
This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
