About the Role

We are seeking a talented Senior Fullstack Software Engineer to join our Growth this role you will design build and scale systems that improve how users subscribe manage and stay engaged with our platform. As a Senior Engineer you will have a significant impact on our technical infrastructure ensuring our systems are robust performant and maintainable. Youll work closely with cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality solutions contribute to the teams strategic direction and help shape a culture of excellence

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of professional software development experience.

• Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and its ecosystem.

• Solid experience with JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks (React strongly preferred).

• Strong understanding of database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and architectural tradeoffs.

• Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST GraphQL a plus).

• Proven ability to build and maintain comprehensive test suites (unit integration end-to-end).

• Excellent communication skills and ability to lead technical initiatives in a collaborative environment.

Technical Skills

• Primary: Ruby on Rails. JavaScript ReactJS (NextJS a plus)

• Databases: SQL NoSQL

• Testing: RSpec Minitest Jest Cypress (or similar)

• Version Control: Git or similar workflows

• API Development: RESTful APIs GraphQL (nice to have)

Nice to Have

• Experience with subscription systems payments or retention-focused features.

• Familiarity with MarTech tools and customer lifecycle engagement platforms.

• Knowledge of various Rails templating engines (Phlex Fortitude etc.).

• Experience with AWS services (S3 Lambda CloudFront).

• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins GitHub Actions).

• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow Dagster etc.).

At Scribd your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role level and geographic location. San Francisco is our highest geographic market in the United the state of California the reasonably expected salary range is between $164000 minimum salary in our lowest geographic market within California to $227500 maximum salary in our highest geographic market within California.

In the United States outside of California the reasonably expected salary range is between $120000 minimum salary in our lowest US geographic market outside of California to $216500 maximum salary in our highest US geographic market outside of California.

In Canada the reasonably expected salary range is between $152500 CADminimum salary in our lowest geographic market to $202000 CADmaximum salary in our highest geographic market.

We carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation including but not limited to experience; job-related skill sets; relevant education or training; and other business and organizational needs. The salary range listed is for the level at which this job has been the event that you are considered for a different level a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for a competitive equity ownership and a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
