Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design/development modification and evaluation of primarily mechanical systems equipment and packages. They may contribute to total systems engineering including other engineering disciplines and conduct feasibility studies and tests new and modified designs. They are involved in all phases of development from initial concept to manufacturing and may direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design design testing and prototype fabrication.
The Mechanical Engineer provide design information to drafting for packaging documentation and depending on level may function as a project engineer/leader with the resident responsibilities of proposals/project plan schedules work assignments prime contact technical presentations cross functional issue resolution etc. They are expected to keep up to date on technical advances in the discipline and related fields.
Responsibilities:
- Generate concepts design new product mechanisms sub-assemblies and packaging; engineering analysis; generate detailed design and drawings.
- Identify and select vendors outsource parts and assemblies (off the shelf components custom items and fabricated parts)
- Must be hands-on; assemble troubleshoot debug and qualify subsystems and components. Resolve design issues as appropriate.
- Clearly and concisely express and document ideas options problems issues test results etc.
- Develop the required documentation during the development and transfer to production (models detail drawings diagrams BOM assembly procedures etc.). Generate meticulous detailed and thorough documentation.
- Ensure that the specifications schedule and budget have been met
- Provide support to manufacturing and field service after product release.
- Work well within the team environment.
Experience:
- A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- 5-10 years of design experience preferably with mechanisms robotics or automation.
- A combination of experience and education will be considered.
Position Requirements:
- Completed a minimum of 2 product life cycles (from concept to production) as a key contributor.
- Demonstrated capability to perform engineering analysis and familiarity with commonly used analysis tools (e.g. FEM).
- Experience in designing robotics mechanisms for automation and complex electro-mechanical products is highly desirable
- Knowledge of machining and fabrication processes for metals and the commonly used plastics.
- Experienced user of SolidWorks CAD or equivalent CAD program
- ISO 13485 and FDA/cGMP experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills detail-oriented while being flexible open and able to adapt to changing priorities.
- Must have a strong work ethic and good written and verbal communication skills.
- A self-starter; must be able to work independently with minimum supervision or direction.

United States Base Compensation: $99000.00 - $124000.00
The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure. Final compensation may vary above or below this range depending on factors such as experience education (including licensure and certifications) qualifications performance and geographic location among other relevant business or organizational needs.
