This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Function

As the Senior Communications and Marketing Specialist you will initiate create plan produce and implement communications projects and/or marketing strategies in support of CBC Radio Television and Digital. Work must conform to and respect CBC program and journalistic policies standards and practices as well as the ethics related to advertising standards. There is an expectation of initiative and creativity as well as the requirement to demonstrate good judgment. There is a regular requirement to coordinate the work of others. Project management skills are required as well as the ability to multitask.

You will:

  • Create vet and build assignments for all campaigns.
  • Oversee the teams workload / workflow.
  • Create plans produce and implement communications schedules and work back schedules for the team(s) working alongside but advising our Administrative Specialists / Production Coordinators.
  • Lead and facilitate weekly team meetings providing and receiving updates on project status.
  • There is a regular requirement to coordinate the work of others:
    • Coordinate a wide variety of promotional and / or public relations materials for other Marketing and Communications teams and external needs ensuring the appropriate distribution of briefing materials including creative assets messaging and deadlines.
    • Provide organizational promotional and creative support to external partners and internal stakeholders such as local CBC News Media Solutions.
    • Coordinate daily work assignments for Creative teams based on project due dates and asset availability.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Review communications and marketing strategies and projects for Radio Television and Digital in consultation with clients and upon approval implement these strategies and projects.
  • Support the development of local/community strategies and plans including associated briefs and implement in accordance with delegated authority or any necessary approvals.

As required performs the following tasks:

  • Review creative briefs.
  • Provide Marketing and Communication staff with training and technical support in project management tool Adobe Workfront.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years related experience in promotion and marketing preferably within an advertising agency or creative environment.
  • Digital media experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated superior writing skills leadership creativity strategic thinking planning organizational ability and interpersonal skills.
  • Depending on the assignment relevant experience with radio or television broadcasting or with promotional activities on the internet would be required.
  • Openness to diverse perspectives and ideas and differing points of view is critical.
  • Project Management experience in an advertising or creative environment is required.
  • WorkFront or other Project Management system experience is required.
  • Indepth understanding of production and/or creative workflows is a must.
