Description of Work
- THIS POSITION IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO CURRENT OSA EMPLOYEES.
The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking an Audit Director to lead our Financial Audit Division. This division is responsible for performing financial statement and federal compliance audits for the State of North Carolina state agencies state universities community colleges and other units of state government.
OSA is the states Fiscal Watchdog. We hold state government and entities that receive public money accountable working on behalf of North Carolinians to eliminate waste fraud and abuse.

As part of our team you will get to:
- Ensure the overall direction of staffing training and development for the Financial Audit Division
- Review and evaluate audit reports and work papers for content and accuracy
- Research state and federal agencies to keep abreast of current developments that may impact financial audits
- Monitoring budgets for all assigned audits and related projects
- Prepare new audit and project procedures instructions and guidelines to be used by the Financial Auditors

- Ability to present complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may understand
- Ability to review complex documents and reports to identifyand address performance issues
- Ability to lead the development and implementation of OSAs vision and mission officewide goals andobjectives and to effectivelyadjust plans as needed
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge of supervisory practices and extensive knowledge of strategic planning
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelors degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of experience in auditing/accounting including three years serving in a role as an audit lead or supervisor
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience
AND
A Certified Public Accountant license issued by the State of North Carolina or eight years of auditing under the Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book)Supplemental and Contact Information
