HEALTH ASSISTANT (LPN) - SPECIAL EDUCATION

Step 1 - Hourly Rate - $20.52
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Educational Aide Permit
- Confidentiality
- Graduate of an approved school of Practical Nursing
- Current License or Interim Permit issued by the State of Ohio
- Honesty
- Cooperate and get along with others
- Work as a member of a team
Desirable:
- Experience with children with multiple handicaps
- Sensitivity to the needs of handicapped children
- Ability to take directions
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of aHealth Assistant include but are not limited to the following:
Understands the role in assisting planning implementing and evaluating nursing care in an educational setting
- Communicates and records all pertinent data accurately and completely
- Prepares and administers medicines following a satisfactory completion of a pharmacology course
- Maintains a safe environment
- Assists the nursing staff administering care in a complex situation
- Provides lavatory assistance when necessary
- Understands and maintains the academic and behavioral standards set for the students by the certified teacher
- Performs other duties as assigned
Applicants for the above position is REQUIRED to be Highly Qualified which is defined as: Two (2) years of college (Minimum of 48 Semester Hours or 72 Quarter Hours) or possess an Associates Degree or passed the Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam.
Applicants must submit a copy of their Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam results or an Official copy of their college transcript(s) to verify their Highly Qualified Status. Applicants must also have a valid Educational Aide Permit or obtain one immediately upon being employed with the Canton City School District. If you do not meet the criteria for Highly Qualified you are not eligible to apply.
