Job Title: IT Helpdesk Technician Pay: $19-$25 per hour FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt Reports to: IT Helpdesk Manager Company Summary: Midwest Petroleum is a retail petroleum and convenience store chain based in St. Louis Mo. We began operating in 1946 and since 2002 the St. Louis Business Journal has recognized us as one of the top 150 privately owned businesses in St. Louis. Midwest Petroleum operates 60 stores within a 150-mile radius that employs approximately 600 employees. Midwest Petroleum markets fuel through the ZX Conoco and Phillips 66 brands. Primary Purpose of Job: As the IT Helpdesk Technician you provide support and maintenance for Midwest Petroleums computers tablets printers and any other hardware/software. Helpdesk Technicians will also install repair and upgrade company hardware and software as needed. Helpdesk Techs will utilize a ticketing system to help manage any reported issues or scheduled updates/repairs. Helpdesk techs must analyze issues isolate problems and implement solutions. If solutions cant be resolved quickly they will escalate the problem to the next tier. While also adhering to all other IT Service Management processes and procedures. Making visits to Midwest Petroleum Stations to help with any issues that cant be fixed virtually. Researching and testing new programs and applications to ensure successful launches or updates. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Provide technical support across the company via in-person over the phone or by traveling to retail locations.
- Monitoring hardware software and system performance metrics.
- Updating old software/hardware as needed.
- Test and evaluate new technology by:
- Performing diagnostic tests.
- Perform tests on new hardware and software.
- Defining software hardware and network requirements.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Improves client references by writing and maintaining documentation. Or assisting/Informing training staff of new processes or equipment.
- Resolving logged errors in a timely manner.
- Work well with members of other Midwest Petroleum teams to resolve issues.
- Follow up with users to ensure issues are resolved.
- Follow on-call schedule rotation.
- Handle any other work that can be assigned at the supervisors discretion.
Education/Experience Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related fields 1-5 years experience in It support or related fields. Physical Requirements This position is performed in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to general office equipment beverage equipment coolers and any other site-specific equipment/factors. You could also encounter exposure to hazardous materials and loud noises. This job requires the ability to walk stand bend and reach regularly. Must be able to frequently be required to lift push or pull weight of at least 5 to 75 pounds. Ability to work in different Midwest Petroleum Stations.
