Category Manager Global Distribution Centers

VELUX Logistics in Kolding Denmark or Budapest Hungary

Your challenge

You will join the Global Logistics Sourcing department responsible for all outsourced logistics agreements across inbound freight distribution centers outbound distribution (Parcels/Groupage/FTL) and Air & Sea.

The procurement of logistics services is globalised and therefore the Global Logistics Sourcing function is anchored within the VELUX Logistics organization in Kolding Denmark. You will join a team with 3 Category Managers. Together you will be contributing to setting and implementing the future sourcing strategy for our logistics service provider portfolio and our logistics set-up with the category of Distribution Centers and Parcel Distribution..

Global Logistics Sourcing (GLS) holds the commercial responsibility within VELUX Logistics for outsourced logistics meaning that all commercial contracts are anchored here.

As VELUX A/S has a complex logistics flow which includes numerous FTL/LTL shipment factories distribution centers and distributions setups it is imperative to secure the right governance to maintain cost efficiency.

It is GLS responsibility to identify and select professional partners that can deliver in accordance to the market demands and fits the logistics category requirements.

Your focus area will be Distribution Centers (DCs) and you will cover in total 29 markets that is supplied from 16 different DCs.

Your main tasks will be to

You will be responsible for executing the contract strategy within the assigned logistics area: Distribution Centers securing both implementation and governance of the defined category requirements.

The category requirements are predefined and centres around:

- Contract Conditions

- Service levels

- Capacity

- Legal contract requirements

- Contract obligations

It will be your challenge to bridge these requirements with the right Logistics Service Providers (LSP) and through a strong Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) using the necessary tools and processes to ensure the constant development of the business within the four following areas: Quality Service Cost and Sustainability.

You will review and streamline the existing supplier contracts to match the business needs and handle tender and procurement processes including negotiation and signing contracts with suppliers.

Therefore it is very important that you continuously are on top of sustainable solutions and actively monitors both the performance- spend- and service development of the LSPs within the assigned area securing that the contract obligation and compliance are kept.

Furthermore the Category Manager acts a business partner for the entire VELUX Logistics organisation participating in projects optimization tasks or simple sparring sessions. The business partner role is mainly focused within VELUX but can be extended to the entire VKR Holding company portfolio upon requirement.

Our logistics needs and current logistics structures are highly diverse and complex. So it is evident you team up with colleagues across the business to obtain a thorough understanding of their requirements and to demonstrate the opportunities our team can offer.

Your qualifications

You have a thorough understanding of supply chain and the logistics industry and experience with negotiating service contracts on either side of the table. Thus we imagine that you:

- Have 5 years of international experience with logistics procurement or alternatively as a logistics manager or customer account manager in a logistics company with a core focus on Distribution Centers. If you have experience with Parcel logistics and tenders that would be a plus.

- Possess excellent stakeholder management skills and the interpersonal abilities to drive change in an international organisation

- Have a strong analytical skill set and are able to analyse on both qualitative and quantitative data sets.

- Ability and comfortable with doing presentations for different stakeholder groups in relation to tenders. Good understanding of cost structures and models and the ability to project and use indexes in your modelling.

- Strong ability to include Risk assessments in your modelling.

- Good ability to balance your approach using your operational understanding together with your analytical and commercial insights.

- Ideally you have experience in working with sustainability and CO2e reduction initiatives within logistics

- Communicate effortlessly in English verbally and in writing

- Are able to travel approx. 25 days a year
