The Student Accounts Specialist is responsible for monitoring student account balances ensuring accounts remain current and providing proactive financial support to students. This role requires strong communication problem-solving and organizational skills to help students effectively manage their financial obligations while supporting overall student success.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor student account balances and ensure payments are current.
Proactively contact students regarding their Institutional Financing Plan available payment options and account status.
Develop personalized strategies to reduce delinquency rates and improve student financial outcomes.
Foster positive relationships with students creating a supportive environment to address financial concerns and resolve outstanding balances.
Collaborate with student services academic departments and internal finance teams to address financial issues and support student retention.
Provide financial counseling including guidance on payment options installment plans and account management strategies.
Ensure compliance with institutional policies federal regulations and privacy laws while safeguarding sensitive student information.
Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and streamline student account management.
Utilize Tuition Options systems and Power BI to track account status maintain accurate records and generate reporting.
Document all student interactions and financial details in the Web Client system to maintain complete and up-to-date records.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a relevant business field or two or more years of progressively responsible experience in Accounts Receivable Collections Bookkeeping Financial Aid Student Accounts or the Loan industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong mathematical skills including the ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure work with fractions and decimals calculate rates ratios and percentages and interpret bar graphs.
Exceptional organizational problem-solving multi-tasking and time management abilities.
Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills with the ability to foster positive relationships with students and colleagues.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint and Visio.
