Scope:The Chapter Coordinator is a hybrid role providing essential communication and development functions ; as well as volunteer organizing and support for Sierra Club San Gorgonio Chapters advocacy campaigns the Freight Coalition project and volunteer and membership programs.

Overall - Advancing Sierra Club Climate Justice Mission
Actively seeks opportunities to advance the Sierra Clubs commitment to equity inclusion diversity and justice through equitable internal processes and communications with members supporters and partners.
50% - Administration & Operations
Coordinate with the Chapter Leadership and Director on social media strategy and outreach for the Chapter and the Freight Coalition campaign work
Develop Marketing Cloud email alerts alongside chapter leadership to engage volunteers on time-sensitive issues
Create schedule and post engaging and relevant social media content and curate the Chapters social media accounts and the Freight Coalition accounts with Chapter Director approval
Build and maintain lists reports and other digital databases in Salesforce for purposes of both advocacy and coalition building deliverables for Freight Coalition work.
Supports Chapter volunteer and donor events both virtual and in person
Supports Chapter Director in monitoring and managing Chapter general email inbox and phone line serving as the 2nd point of contact for public and member requests
50% - Volunteer Organizing
In coordination with other volunteers and staff organizes Chapter events including advocacy and social events volunteer orientations film screenings and training and supports Chapter Director in fundraising events.
Participates in recruiting screening and training potential volunteers. Connects them to campaigns our Groups and programs based on their interest.
Freight Coalition organizing - under direction of Chapter Director works with Freight Coalition partners to organize volunteers and plan events.
Serves as the primary staff contact for volunteer teams as assigned including Freight Coalition team
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail
Ability to interact effectively with volunteers members staff press and the general public.
Ability to work comfortably and collaboratively in a small team.
Proficient in standard office software suites - MS Office; Google Workspace - Word Slides Spreadsheets and database management.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Verbal and written language skills.
At least 18 months of experience (volunteer or paid) in community/neighborhood organizing and warehouse-issue advocacy
Ability to travel within the San Gorgonio Chapter region up to 25% of the time and work flexible hours for community events outside of regular business hours

The strongest candidates will also demonstrate the following experience skills and competencies:
Functional understanding of the regulatory agencies around warehouse issues (SCAQMD SCAG municipalities RCTC WRCOG CARB Caltrans)
Experience project managing in small teams
Experience with CRM software system (Salesforce or similar)
Experience with virtual and in-person events planning
Understanding of warehouse policy areas (truck routes good neighbor policies air quality land-use labor)
Experience training and/or coordinating volunteers
Biliterate Spanish language skills.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $62000 annually.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining unit and is subject to the terms and conditions of the contract between Sierra Club and Progressive Workers Union.
The Sierra Club offers a competitive salary package commensurate with skills and experience plus excellent benefits that include medical dental and vision coverage and a retirement savings 401(k) plan.
This is a category 6 non-exempt represented position.
