Job Description

Licensed Occupational Therapist

Our highly qualified educators and staff members work to provide personalized attention and support to ensure that every student thrives.

Summary:

Provides direct occupational therapy services for students with special education needs and coordinate individual programs with students staff administrators and parents.

Qualifications:

1. Hold appropriate license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Health Professionals as an Occupational Therapist

2. Preferred Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy or related field

3. Experience in delivering occupational therapy services in the public school setting; and

4. Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work educational experience school-level involvement and/or system-wide professional activities and the interview process.

Responsibilities:

1. Evaluate and assess students referred for special education eligibility determination

2. Develop and implement effective programs of intervention for students with special education needs

3. Develop IEP goals benchmarks and assessment methods to monitor a students progress in the educational area identified requiring intervention

4. Work collaboratively with all building liaisons principals and teachers to determine eligibility need for level and/or continuation of occupational therapy service

5. Carefully monitor student progress toward achievement of goals and effectively communicate to the TEAM termination of services where appropriate

6. Develop programs for efficiently delivering occupational therapy services and managing available resources

7. Keep thorough and confidential records for the individual students receiving occupational therapy

8. Consult with parents classroom teachers and other staff as needed

9. Participate at team meetings where students have been recommended for or are currently receiving occupational therapy services

10. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or designee
