About the role
As an Engineer in the Infrastructure Platform area you will have direct impact on the work of our entire engineering organization and will help ensure the reliability scalability and performance of our products.
We have opportunities on one of our core Infrastructure Platform team:
- The Cloud Operations team is responsible for all of our infrastructure and focuses primarily on making sure engineering teams have all the tools and support they need to build features our learners love. You will use and develop innovative tools to enable growth and stability across all Duolingo services and platforms. You will also act as an advisor for how to best apply these tools internally to accurately deploy manage monitor and control the costs of production services.

- Design and implement tools that help engineering teams focus on shipping features while making sure we build infrastructure that is cost-efficient secure and reliable.
- Streamline operational and development practices in order to provide an effective self-service platform to other Duolingo engineers.
- Monitor our infrastructure and develop strategies to keep our costs within budget and manage our capacity.

Requirements...
- Relevant work experience including industry experience.
- Experience with one or more configuration management (Ansible Puppet Chef) or infrastructure management tools (Terraform CloudFormation)
- Familiarity with containerization runtimes (Docker rkt)
- Functional knowledge of Linux system administration and automation
Exceptional candidates will have...
- Extensive experience in fast-growing consumer-facing data-driven startups ideally mobile app-based.
- A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Experience running a large infrastructure on AWS Google Cloud or Alibaba Cloud
- Confirmed ability to navigate highly regulated networking environments (cross-border traffic optimization multi-region cloud architecture)
