ROLE PURPOSE
The Electrical Draftsman will work under the guidance of the Engineering Manager to prepare detailed electrical drawings and schematics. This role focuses on the design and drafting of electrical components and systems contributing to the execution of engineering projects in compliance with industry standards and company procedures.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Preparing accurate and detailed electrical drawings schematics and layouts using CAD software.
- Collaborating with engineers and project teams to translate technical requirements into precise drawings.
- Ensuring compliance with national and international electrical standards in all designs.
- Assisting in the review and validation of electrical drawings checking for accuracy and ensuring compliance with the projects requirements.
- Coordinating with procurement teams to ensure the correct electrical components are sourced as per the drawings.
- Providing technical support and drawing updates during project execution and commissioning phases.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designing and drafting electrical systems including lighting power distribution and control panels.
- Developing detailed schematics single-line diagrams and wiring layouts.
- Revising and updating drawings as necessary based on engineering changes and client feedback.
- Working closely with suppliers to ensure the drawings align with the materials provided.
- Collaborating with manufacturing and installation teams to clarify design details and resolve any technical issues during fabrication and installation.
- Maintaining a high level of attention to detail to prevent costly design errors.
- Creating as-built drawings after project completion.
- Participating in quality checks to ensure all drawings meet the specified standards and regulations.
QHSE Responsibilities
- Complying with and participating in company QHSE initiatives.
- Ensuring all drawings and designs meet safety standards and are created with safety considerations in mind.
Other Responsibilities
- Collaborating with engineers and other draftsmen to produce project documentation such as Bill of Materials (BOM) and assembly instructions.
- Providing ongoing technical assistance to teams during the production and installation phases.
- Maintaining and updating drawing records ensuring easy access and retrieval when required.
AUTHORITIES
- As per the companys Limits of Authority (LoA).
COMPETENCIES
- Education Qualification
- Diploma or certification in Electrical Drafting or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD EPLAN or equivalent) is required.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in electrical drafting is preferred.
Skills and/or Experience
- Proficient in interpreting engineering designs and converting them into electrical schematics.
- Strong understanding of electrical design principles codes and standards (IEC NEC etc.).
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality work.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in drafting.
