Your Team Responsibilities


MSCI is a leading global provider of investment decision support tools including data analytics and indices. Our technology group plays a central role in building scalable secure and high-performance systems that enable smarter investment decisions. As part of our expanding DevOps practice we are looking for a talented Java DevOps Engineer with deep knowledge of Java systems modern DevOps practices and a strong interest in improving code quality through automated builds and thoughtful refactoring.

This role blends software engineering and DevOps practices focusing on improving the reliability efficiency and quality of our Java-based applications. You will help evolve and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines containerized deployment strategies and infrastructure automationwhile also contributing directly to the refactoring of legacy Java code to improve maintainability performance and alignment with modern architecture patterns.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with development teams to refactor and modernize Java codebases improving modularity readability and testability.
  • Optimize Java build processes using Gradle reducing build times and increasing reliability.
  • Support containerization and orchestration of Java applications using Docker and Kubernetes (GKE/AKS/Rancher).
  • Troubleshoot complex build deployment and runtime issues across distributed systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and enforce DevOps best practices and secure SDLC standards.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Strong Java development background with experience in large-scale applications and deep understanding of OOP design patterns and the Java ecosystem

  • Expertise in Java build tools such as Gradle including dependency resolution.

  • Proficiency with DevOps tools and methodologies including CI/CD platforms like Jenkins Azure DevOps or similar.

  • Strong scripting skills (e.g. Bash Python Groovy) for automation and DevOps workflows.

  • Experience deploying and managing containerized applications (Docker) and orchestrating them with Kubernetes.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure GCP) and infrastructure automation tools (Terraform).

  • Excellent analytical debugging and communication skills with a proactive approach to collaboration and problem solving.
