Job Description

About the role:

MacKillops Out of Home Care (OOHC) division provides case management support for children and young people with high and complex needs through a therapeutically oriented program for young people in protective placements. This position is situated within the Southern residential care program and reports to the Residential Coordinator.

This role is responsible for case management within a therapeutic and trauma informed model of care. It is responsible for supervision of caregivers caregiver assessment contribute to overall service development and commitment to best practice in Occupational Health and Safety.


This is a Full-Time Fixed Term 38 hours per week - until 2.7.2026 with possible early cessation or possible extension opportunity based in Dandenong VIC within our Southern Out of Home Care Program. The position reports to the Residential Coordinator.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children young people and their families
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in social work community services or equivalent.
  • Sound professional knowledge and theory base relating to trauma attachment and integrated trauma informed practice.
  • Experience in child welfare practice and an understanding of meeting childrens Developmental needs.
  • A knowledge of child safe principles and standards.
  • Professional casework skills including knowledge of LAC and CRISSP/CRIS and;
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with others and exercise influence in a diversity of contexts.

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Drivers Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
