Overview
5 West is an inpatient medical-behavioral unit where mental and behavioral health patients already admitted to CM can receive the medical care they need with additional resources for their non-medical (behavioral and mental health) needs. The Behavioral Health RN utilizes nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide comprehensive age appropriate nursing care for low acuity assigned patients. Assists with the shift supervision of nonprofessional personnel as necessary.

New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles mumps rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus diphtheria acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive age-appropriate plan of care for patients with medical and behavioral or psychiatric conditions
- Meets the educational and informational needs of the low acuity patient and family utilizing appropriate principles of teaching/learning.
- Promotes safe efficient family-centered care to low acuity patients.
- Delegates nursing care based on knowledge of staff qualifications/competency and patient care requirements.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree ADN Required. Current employees hired before September 1 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training
- Bachelors Degree Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1 2013. Nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date.
- One of the following: Licensed RN - MO Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
- One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
- Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
- Specialty Certification relevant to units patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred

Starting Pay
Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $31.50/hr but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
We also offer the following shift differentials:
- Weekday nights: 15%
- Weekend nights: 25% (10% weekend 15% night)
- Weekend days: 10%
Remote Work/Work from Home
This position is not eligible to work remotely which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Childrens Mercy locations and may not work from home.
