How can you contribute to what we do
- You lead the charge in shaping and executing a portfolio-wide energy management strategy that aligns cost operational performance and sustainability goals.
- You collaborate closely with Finance to build accurate data-driven utility forecasts and budgets that support strategic decision-making.
- You stay ahead of energy market trends and regulations identifying opportunities and risks that inform procurement strategies and operational resilience.
- You regularly review and negotiate utility contracts ensuring optimal rates and uncovering new cost-saving opportunities across diverse properties.
- You conduct in-depth audits of utility data (water waste electricity fuel solar EV) to ensure accuracy completeness and compliance with reporting standards.
- You maintain precise mapping of meters and utility accounts seamlessly integrating data into systems that power smart cost control and performance tracking.
- You champion robust data systems and tools working cross-functionally with IT and Finance to ensure accurate reliable and user-friendly reporting platforms.
- You take the lead on energy procurement in deregulated markets expertly balancing pricing renewable content and long-term reliability.
- You monitor utility usage across the portfolio identifying inefficiencies and driving operational improvements that positively impact the bottom line.
- You collaborate with field teams to roll out impactful energy upgrades including LED retrofits HVAC improvements solar and EV installations and more.
- You empower field teams with the training tools and insights needed to reduce utility spend enhance performance and unlock budget efficiencies.
- You help translate sustainability into action integrating infrastructure upgrades into tenant activations and branded experiences that engage shoppers.
- You oversee the performance of key environmental platforms like Conservice Measurabl Hydropoint and ENERGY STAR ensuring accurate and integrated data flows.
- You contribute to ESG and regulatory reporting efforts from GHG inventories to CDP and GRESB submissions helping to elevate Tangers impact story.
- You design meaningful KPIs dashboards and leadership updates that turn complex energy data into clear strategic insights for the business.
About You:
- You have a bachelors degree (or equivalent experience) in Environmental Science Sustainability Business or a related field.
- You bring 5 years of experience in retail operations sustainability or related areas ideally within retail tenant or shopping center environments.
- You have hands-on experience with energy strategy utility management and sustainability operations including GHG accounting and utility forecasting.
- You are skilled at managing environmental data pipelines and building dashboards that deliver executive-level insights.
- You collaborate effectively across departments and negotiate confidently with vendors and partners.
- You are familiar with distributed energy resources like solar and EV infrastructure and multi-site utility coordination.
- You understand environmental reporting standards (e.g. GRESB CDP UNGC TCFD/ISSB) and stay current with regulatory requirements.
- You are detail-oriented organized and excel at managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- You translate complex data into actionable insights using visualization tools and analytics.
- You hold relevant certifications (e.g. LEED SASB) or licenses in construction architecture or sustainability (preferred but not required).
- You are able to travel via commercial airlines and maintain a valid drivers license to operate your own vehicle or rental car in a safe manner. This position requires up to 20% travel.

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location experience and performance. The range listed is just one component of Tangers total compensation package for employees.
