About the role
We are looking for a talented Head of Health & Safety to help us scale safely and smartly across Europe. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role leading the embedding of health and safety into everything we do not as a box-ticking exercise but as a strategic enabler of people-first outcomes.
Youll work closely with teams across construction operations and engineering to support Fastneds rapid growth. From developing risk mitigation strategies and incident response plans to leading training initiatives and collaborating on safety design youll have real influence in shaping a proactive safety culture.
What youll be doing
Lead the development and implementation of Fastneds Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) policies and procedures. This includes fostering a proactive safety culture based on data-driven insights and continuous improvement ensuring that safety is not just a compliance exercise but an integral part of Fastneds operational excellence and strategic vision.
Manage all operational health and safety aspects across Fastneds global operations. This encompasses agile risk assessments thorough incident management processes robust emergency response planning and ensuring swift and comprehensive compliance with all relevant regulations adapting to the diverse regulatory landscapes in which Fastned operates.
Design and deliver engaging health and safety training programs and awareness initiatives. The aim is to empower all personnel and stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to adapt and work safely promoting a culture where every individual is an active participant in maintaining a safe environment and understands their role in preventing incidents and promoting well-being.
Collaborate seamlessly across departments acting as the primary contact for health and safety. This involves fostering strong partnerships with contractors and suppliers to embed safety throughout the entire business value chain from initial design and procurement to daily operations and maintenance ensuring a consistent and high standard of EHS performance.
Prepare and present concise health and safety performance reports tracking key indicators to drive continuous improvement and maximize the impact of safety initiatives. This includes analyzing trends identifying areas for improvement and providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership to ensure EHS is a key consideration in business decision-making and innovation.
Champion thought leadership in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) by staying abreast of emerging trends technologies and best practices. This involves proactively identifying opportunities to innovate and integrate cutting-edge EHS solutions contributing to industry discourse and positioning Fastned as a leader in sustainable and safe operations within the fast-charging infrastructure sector.
Who we are looking for
You are keen to join us on our mission to speed up the energy transition by building a network of 1000 premium fast charging hubs across Europe. You are comfortable navigating European health and safety legislation and working across different regulatory environments. You will build and lead a supportive high-performing team by aligning goals developing talent and coaching others. You know how to drive cultural change and influence across all organisational levels utilising a proactive analytical and solution-focused approach. Furthermore you bring along:
5 years of progressive experience in health and safety ideally in multi-site or construction environments with a solid track record of building or evolving robust health and safety systems.
Degree in Occupational Health and Safety Environmental Health Engineering or a related field.
Hands-on mentality and open to travelling regularly to our Fastned locations across Europe.
Fluency in English. Additional European languages (Dutch German French Spanish or Italian) are considered a plus.
