POSITION: Part-time Adult Education Instructor GED Pilot Program
SCHEDULE: 12 hours/week
LOCATION: Mary H. Wright Elementary
SALARY: $30.00/hour
QUALIFICATIONS: Current SC Teacher Certification Minimum of 3 years successful teaching experience Excellent communication interpersonal and organization skills. Computer literate with working knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and evaluate learning experiences of students through effective planning and adequate preparation
- Meet with each new student to provide thorough orientation and goal setting
- Provide oversight for adult education classes located within facility;
- Manage the adult education classroom to provide an attractive and inviting educational environment that promotes student engagement and retention
- Ensure proper use of equipment materials and supplies
- Execute school/site administrative policies and translate such policies to the community in a professional manner
- Prepare present and evaluate instructional materials aligned to the instructional standards of the high school equivalency assessment (GED) in the academic content areas of Language Arts Mathematics Science and Social Studies
- Maintain accurate records including attendance and submit required data and reports in a timely manner
- Provide monthly reporting on the services provided to the parents/guardians served at Mary H. Wright to the Adult Education Director.
- Execute strategies to improve and maintain program outcomes for student performance and student success
- Communicate pertinent information shared from the county office with the students and Adult Education staff at the site including but not limited to testing schedules policy changes and training opportunities
- Administer required assessments including but not limited to the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) the WIN Career Readiness assessments NorthStar Digital Literacy and the Official GED Practice Test
- Attend monthly coordinator meetings at the Adult Education county office in Spartanburg
- Keep informed of new trends and research studies regarding Adult Learning
- Maintain positive and professional working relationships with colleagues.
- Provide a model in mature behavior for adults including but not limited to dress punctuality and polite communication
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education
