Within Capital One the Regulatory Affairs function at Capital One is responsible for managing all interactions with Federal Banking Regulators. We provide key advisory consulting to senior management with respect to onsite supervision and evolving regulatory policy issues while also supporting regulatory and supervisory policy.
We are seeking a Senior Director to lead our landscape analysis and policy advocacy efforts in partnership with Legal and our Government Affairs and Policy Group; as well as leading facets of our regulatory interactions on a variety of prudential consumer payments and emerging technology and other regulatory matters. The focus of the role will include supporting our efforts in designing and driving the advocacy agenda for critical areas of strategic importance in the regulatory landscape. The successful candidate will also provide advisory services across payments consumer emerging technology and other regulatory developments across the enterprise. This position plays a significant role in ensuring that Capital One clearly understands and proactively responds to the changing regulatory landscape and enables productive relationships with both supervisory staff and principals of the key regulatory agencies with whom Capital One engages.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of a strategy for prudential regulatory agency engagement that amplifies and enhances Capital Ones leadership as a tech-forward financial institution
Lead on behalf of Regulatory Affairs the development and implementation of enterprise-wide policy advocacy efforts in partnership with subject matter experts
Oversee regulatory and supervisory relations and interactions between Capital Ones leaders and the Federal Regulatory supervisory staff and key principals across the agencies
Advise functional partners on current and emerging risks opportunities and challenges that the company faces in the supervisory and regulatory environment as well as the controls the Management team has established to manage these risks
Develop the technical competencies and analytical mindset of Capital One Associates who perform regulatory affairs and external affairs work to ensure awareness of emerging risks and a comprehensive risk program
Basic Qualifications:
At least 7 years of experience in banking or financial services operational or enterprise risk management audit consulting regulatory agencies or a combination
Preferred Qualifications:
10 years of experience in banking or financial services operational or enterprise risk management audit consulting regulatory agencies or a combination
10 years of experience supporting integrated projects or programs where senior leaders and external stakeholders are your customers
8 years of experience working with banking regulators and regulatory policy

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean VA: $264300 - $301700 for Sr. Director Govt RelationsCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
