Job Description
Job Title: CAD/CAM Drafter
Location: Hardeeville SC
Job Type: Part-time
Department: Engineering/Production
Reports To: Plant Manager/Production Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD/CAM Drafter. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating precise technical drawings and CAM toolpaths for CNC routing and machining operations. This role requires a combination of design knowledge manufacturing insight and strong computer-aided drafting capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop 2D and 3D CAD models and CAM toolpaths using Aspire software.
- Prepare detailed technical drawings and specifications for CNC machining and routing.
- Translate customer concepts or sketches into production-ready CAD/CAM files.
- Collaborate with design production and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability.
- Optimize toolpaths for speed efficiency and material usage.
- Troubleshoot and revise existing CAD/CAM files as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation and organized file management.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
- Assist in machine setup or programming as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD SolidWorks or similar).
- Understanding of CNC machining processes tooling and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other CAM software and CNC machines (routers mills etc.).
- Background in woodworking signage or custom fabrication is a plus.
- Familiarity with G-code and CNC controller interfaces.
- Associate degree or certification in Drafting Engineering Technology or a related field.
Working Conditions:
- Office and shop floor environment.
- Occasional exposure to noise and dust in production areas.
- Standard work hours with occasional overtime depending on project timelines.
