Job Description

Job Title: CAD/CAM Drafter

Location: Hardeeville SC

Job Type: Part-time

Department: Engineering/Production

Reports To: Plant Manager/Production Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD/CAM Drafter. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating precise technical drawings and CAM toolpaths for CNC routing and machining operations. This role requires a combination of design knowledge manufacturing insight and strong computer-aided drafting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop 2D and 3D CAD models and CAM toolpaths using Aspire software.
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings and specifications for CNC machining and routing.
  • Translate customer concepts or sketches into production-ready CAD/CAM files.
  • Collaborate with design production and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability.
  • Optimize toolpaths for speed efficiency and material usage.
  • Troubleshoot and revise existing CAD/CAM files as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and organized file management.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
  • Assist in machine setup or programming as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD SolidWorks or similar).
  • Understanding of CNC machining processes tooling and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with other CAM software and CNC machines (routers mills etc.).
  • Background in woodworking signage or custom fabrication is a plus.
  • Familiarity with G-code and CNC controller interfaces.
  • Associate degree or certification in Drafting Engineering Technology or a related field.

Working Conditions:

  • Office and shop floor environment.
  • Occasional exposure to noise and dust in production areas.
  • Standard work hours with occasional overtime depending on project timelines.
