THE POSITION
The Purchasing & Sustainability Division is looking for a detail-oriented and resourceful Recycling Specialist to support city-wide waste management and recycling initiatives. The responsibilities of this position include coordinating recycling efforts with both public and private agencies conducting analyses of waste streams preparing educational materials and presentations assisting with grant research and funding applications and promoting community outreach and sustainability events. The Recycling Specialist will help administer contracts and monitor program compliance. Success in this role requires a passion for environmental stewardship and the ability to manage complex program activities that further the Citys goals for recycling and waste reduction.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for the Recycling Specialist position within the Purchasing & Sustainability division is a proactive professional with strong analytical communication and organizational skills. This individual should demonstrate a deep commitment to environmental stewardship public engagement and thrive in a collaborative setting that blends data-driven decision-making with creative outreach strategies. With a keen understanding of recycling legislation program development and community education the candidate will play a vital role in advancing the Citys goals for waste reduction resource recovery and sustainable practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelors degree in Environmental Sciences Public or Business Administration or a closely related field OR equivalent related work experience;ANDat least one (1) year of professional experience performing administrative operations budgetary and similar analyses.
