Role:
Grayson College is seeking to full-time Vineyard Technician position to help with the vineyard and grounds/facilities maintenance of the T.V. Munson Memorial Vineyard and College facilities located on the West Campus. This position will be responsible for the weekly maintenance of the vineyard grounds to include but not limited to non-trade specific repairs to Viticulture/Distillation buildings herbicide management
fertilization irrigation trellis repair shipping and receiving facilitating community tours and daily weed and vine maintenance. This position reports to the Viticulture and Enology Professor and Dean of Academic and Workforce Instruction.
The salary range for this position is $20.69-$31.04 per hour based on applicable experience.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- 70% Spray under canopy and perimeter fence as weather permits. Erosion control trellis installation/maintenance frost protection vineyard installation fence installation. Mulching weeding and general maintenance; Green prune vines and replant dead or diseased plants; Manges pest fungicide and herbicide application in accordance with safe vineyard practices; Water vineyard with drip system as needed and report any damages for repair; Greenhouse oversight/upkeep.
- 25% Performs general maintenance and repair of building structures throughout GC Viticulture and Enology / Distillation facilities. General maintenance duties will include moving furniture boxes etc. setting up for and/or working special events building checks over holidays when buildings are unoccupied and on-call duty. Will perform routine preventative maintenance (greasing equipment oiling motors changing belts changing air filters changing light bulbs etc.); community tours of Vineyard shipping and receiving responsibilities; On-call duty as it pertains to emergency / alarm call outs.
- 5% Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Education: A high school education or GED. Preferred previous experience in farm vineyard or orchard and/or previous classes in viticulture and enology.
- Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
- Interpersonal Skills: Collegial attitude with college community as well as outside entities.
- Other Skills: Two yeas general maintenance and/or vineyard experience is required. Experience with utility vehicles and basic hand tools is needed. Must be able to work in all weather conditions and withstand extreme hot and cold working conditions loud noise environments; lift 50 pounds; walk and/or stand for long periods of time and climb stoop kneel crouch and crawl. Week-end hours may be required as well as travel to off-campus sites as needed.
- Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping recurring lifting of moderately heavy items associated with vineyard care and facilities repair. Job requires average agility and dexterity.
- Work Environment: Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as weather toxic laboratory & industrial chemicals or confined dirty and noisy locations. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks coats gowns boots goggles gloves or shields.
