The SBDC at UWMadison is part of a nationally accredited network of nearly 1000 centers and a proud member of the Wisconsin SBDC Network. We are a trusted resource for entrepreneurs and small business owners offering no-cost confidential consulting and targeted educational programs. Our team is known for launching first-of-their-kind programs and for our commitment to our clients success.
What Youll Do
As a Small Business Consultant youll be the first point of contact for many of our clientstriaging inquiries providing targeted resources and offering in-depth consulting. Youll work directly with entrepreneurs to:
Develop business and marketing plans
Prepare clients to create financial projections
Improve operations and increase profitability
Navigate challenges and identify growth opportunities
Youll also represent the SBDC at local events build relationships within the entrepreneurial ecosystem and contribute to special projects and non-credit courses. You may also have the opportunity to work with UWMadison School of Business students.

This position can be full or part-time between 80-100%.

The starting salary for the position is $60000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Benefits information can be found at ( Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of experience in business or project management and/or small business ownership Strong understanding of small business operations Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to analyze complex business problems and craft actionable solutions Experience with business planning tools (e.g. Business Model Canvas) Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and projections Public speaking or teaching experience Bachelors Degree Required; in business management finance marketing communications or related field Masters of Business Administration or related field preferred.
