SUMMARY:

The Regional Financial Aid Advisor is responsible for overseeing the financial aid operations for multiple campus locations. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid Operations. This role will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards for all aspects of the financial aid process. This includes customer service and relationships with other departments timely and effective packaging for potential and new enrollments along with active students and maintaining low levels of past due through quality processing and reduced rejects. This role will also be responsible for conducting quarterly audits overseeing the student accounts receivables providing regular reporting and assistance with staff training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee the delivery of financial aid services for designated campuses; coordinates logistics and workflow to ensure the effective delivery of services for potential & new enrollments and current students.
  • Effectively work with the Financial Aid Director or Manager to improve the overall effectiveness and results of the campus team; this includes technical and customer focused training and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Provide support to campus financial aid team as a resource for institutional Federal State and VA issues and questions.
  • Oversee timely and accurate processing of new enrollments; consistently maintain packaging goal.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of awards for all subsequent academic years.
  • Review and provide regular reports on the daily operations of the departments processing awarding and appointments.
  • Ensure consistent and effective stitch meeting with the Admissions team.
  • Oversee the maintenance of approved forms and ensure policies and procedures are being used; make recommendations for changes as needed.
  • Ensure consistent processing awarding and distribution of funds to eligible students in a timely accurate and equitable manner.
  • Ensure the reduction of campus annual FSA audit findings; also increasing the campus quality results and conduct effective corrective action plans throughout the year.
  • Assist Financial Aid Director or Manager to consistently achieve past due processing goals and minimizing the number of students required for academic schedule holds each module.
  • Conduct regular review and audit of financial aid files to monitor teams accuracy and compliance; also conduct observation of prelim and packaging appointments to ensure staff is consistently proving excellent customer service and accurate information to students & parents.
  • Assist Financial Aid Director or Manager with professional development of team; provide input for annual reviews or performance improvement plans as needed; maintain weekly presence at campuses.
  • Create and provide regular reporting and metrics to show team progress.
  • Other administrative tasks as deemed necessary.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint
  • Oversees and performs federal student financial aid calculations with precision and accuracy in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Recommends updates to processes to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Significant understanding of federal regulations related to verification and processing of federal aid programs.
  • Participates in audits and investigates questions in annual audits (federal state and institutional).
  • General knowledge of the higher education industry preferred but not

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree in appropriate field highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of a financial aid advisor experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive positive results and improved quality
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of financial aid regulations and related laws and ability to make independent judgments and decisions
  • Must be student-focused individual with a passion for education
  • Willingness and ability to work hours in excess of a typical work week when necessary and travellingamong campuses consistently.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for professional access to Federal Student Aid systems.

WORKING / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Extensive use of office equipment including personal computer multi-line phone system copier printer facsimile and postage meter.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit for extended periods of time; and have sufficient hand arm and finger dexterity to operate a phone computer keyboard and other office equipment
  • Evening or weekend hours if necessary to meet deadlines and meet with prospective students.
  • This position is in an office setting with light to moderate noise levels entails extended periods of sitting and computer work.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to see talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit for extended periods of time; and have sufficient hand arm and finger dexterity to operate a phone computer keyboard and other office equipment.
