Sprout Social is looking to hire a Senior Accountant for the Finance team.

What youll do

Sprout Socials Finance team isnt your typical month-end close type of department. Were building out financial systems to support every business production so our Senior Accountant gets a granular view and understanding of how a business scales from the ground up. Although we might live in spreadsheets and provide financial information to the business thats only the tip of the iceberg. The knowledge to gain is vast as is the potential of our organization to continue growing. Doing our jobs effectively means we approach each interaction with confidence each process with diligence and our customers with care.

  • You will fully own a variety of accounting processes from start to finish like organizing data sets recording journal entries reconciling balance sheet accounts performing variance analysis and presenting findings.
  • You will ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
  • You will work closely with our accounting teams FP&A Payroll and Legal teams to ensure alignment of accounting entries.
  • You will bring valuable experience and proactively work through complex problems by independently troubleshooting.
  • You will understand how various finance systems function and ensure automated processes are operating effectively.
  • You will analyze financial data to identify trends variances and opportunities for improvement and provide actionable insights to management.
  • You will drive process improvements to ensure we are operating efficiently and create new processes to accommodate our always-changing and quickly growing business.

What youll bring

Since this role is about raising the bar were looking for someone with experience in Finance/Accounting within a high-growth technical company (tools best practices (US GAAP) relevant laws and regulations etc.) and a strategic lens (connecting day-to-day work (account reconciliations journal entries etc.) with bigger-picture organizational objectives. The businesses we serve rely on Sprout to create stronger relationships through social media.

The minimum qualifications for this role include:

  • 3 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines

Preferred qualifications for this role include:

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting operations
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system
  • Experience with Coupa or similar expense management system
  • A track record of improving and automating processes and enhancing internal controls
  • SaaS or tech industry experience is a plus

How youll grow

Within 1 month youll plant your roots including:

  • Experience Sprouts in-depth onboarding covering everything from our company mission and values hearing directly from executives and founders to deep training on our products and the value that Sprout delivers to our customers
  • Make a plan with your manager to set initial priorities align on expectations for your role plant goalposts for your career and learn about Sprouts approach to scaling key business operations to support a high-growth NASDAQ publicly traded company

Within 3 months youll start hitting your stride by:

  • Be proficient in using Sprouts accounting system (NetSuite) record journal entries record intercompany transactions retrieve data needed to review transactions and financial reporting
  • Play a critical role in Sprouts month-end close including preparation of deferred commissions cost of revenue allocation general accruals bank and equity journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Build connections with members from other teams including FP&A Legal and Payroll
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects as needed

Within 6 months youll be making a clear impact through:

  • Maintain and improve SOX compliance for accounting functions including participating in SOX documentation and testing
  • Perform variance analysis on balance sheet account fluctuations
  • Have your first performance conversation with your manager where youll discuss your accomplishments in your role and work together to build goals for your professional growth

Within 12 months youll make this role your own by:

  • Prepare client support and communicate core accounting processes to the external Big 4 audit team for quarterly and annual review
  • Continuously evaluate and strengthen internal controls by implementing process and system improvements
  • Surprise us! Use your unique ideas and abilities to change your team in beneficial ways that we havent even considered yet

Whenever possible Sprout wants to provide our team with the flexibility to work in the location that makes the most sense for them. Sprout maintains a remote workforce in many places in the United States. However we are not set up in all states so please look at the drop-down box in our application to see whether your state is listed. Few roles require an office setting. If your position requires a physical presence in a Sprout office it will be evident in the job listing and your offer letter.

Individual base pay is based on various factors including work location relevant experience and skills the responsibility of the role and job duties/ the United States we have two geographic pay zones. For this role our current base pay ranges for new hires are:

  • Zone 1 (New York California Washington): $90288 (min) $112900 (mid) $135432 (max) USD annually
  • Zone 2 (All other US states): $82100 (min) $102600 (mid) $123100 (max) USD annually

The listed ranges represent the full earning potential in this position. Starting salaries for well-qualified new hires are typically around the midpoint of the range. These ranges were determined by a market-based compensation approach; we used data from trusted third-party compensation sources to set equitable consistent and competitive ranges. We also evaluate compensation bi-annually identify any changes in the market and make adjustments to our ranges and existing employee compensation as needed.

Base pay is only one element of an employees total compensation at Sprout. Every Sprout team member has an opportunity to receive restricted stock units (RSUs) under Sprouts equity plan. Employees (and their dependents) are covered by medical dental vision basic life accidental death and dismemberment insurance and Modern Health (a wellness benefit). Employees are able to enroll in Sprouts companys 401k plan in which Sprout will match 50% of your contributions up to 6% with a maximum contribution. Sprout offers Flexible Paid Time Off and ten paid holidays.
