About the team and the role:
The Payments Platform team at eBay is committed to advancing the technological infrastructure that supports financial transactions for our global community. As a Senior MTS Software Engineer youll play a crucial role in enhancing the stability scalability and security of eBays payments systems. Working closely alongside a dedicated team youll influence innovative solutions that improve user experience and forge paths into new market segments. Reporting to a Software Development Manager this role provides a chance to lead significant technical projects and collaborate across both technical and business domains to deliver seamless and efficient payment systems.
What you will accomplish:
- Drive the development of high-performance backend systems ensuring reliability and smooth integration into eBays complex payment ecosystem.
- Lead initiatives that reduce payment platform fragmentation and improve transaction efficiency aiming to increase user satisfaction and system throughput.
- Establish robust security protocols to protect user data proactively identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce innovative payment features that expand eBays offerings and improve market competitiveness.
- Mentor and support engineering peers in adopting best technical practices and fostering a collaborative environment conducive to growth and excellence.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies that boost system performance and facilitate easier compliance with global payment regulations.
What you will bring:
- Proven experience in backend software development with expertise in payment systems or related financial services.
- Proven ability in architecting and scaling backend systems to accommodate substantial user and transaction growth.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java C or Python alongside knowledge of cloud computing and microservices architecture.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in managing tasks with the agile methodology and familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent professional experience with advanced technical projects handled independently.
