ThisAdministrative Specialist position fulfills several duties in support of the Marine Recreational Information Program. The primary function of this position is to call For-Hire captains within the For-Hire Telephone Survey (FHTS) managed by the Atlantic Coastal Cooperative Statistics Program (ACCSP) to collect fishing effort data vessel updates and fishing season updates. The Administrative Specialist also disseminates current rules regulations and information on data collection initiatives to stake holders during calls when inquired. Each call attempt must follow the protocols established by the ACCSP. The Administrative Specialist will make quality control calls for the Marine Recreation Information Programs Access Point Angler Intercept Survey (APAIS). This call ensures field interviewers are following APAIS procedures and protocols. Another function of the position is to edit and distribute a pre-validation list of For-Hire vessels to Field Interviewers. Field Interviewers use this list to check For-Hire vessel locations. Lastly the Administrative Specialist enters all pierlog data and then performs a quality control check on entered data.

The DMFs jurisdiction encompasses all coastal waters and extends to 3 miles offshore. Agency policies are established by the nine-member Marine Fisheries Commission and the Secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality.
