Collins Community Credit Union is seeking a Vice President Internal Audit. This individual will be responsible for identifying key processes risks and controls and managing audits from planning to completion ensuring the audit is conducted and the workpapers are documented in adherence with the audit standards. The individual will lead and manage to ensure that the audit is completed within the established timelines and allocated budget. This individual will assess compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to Financial Regulations including internal assessment processes stress testing and regulatory capital requirements (Basel Rules).
Responsibilities
- An Internal Auditor performs internal audit work for all areas of the organization to support the organizations overall audit plan.
- Performs assigned audit test work in accordance with the approved audit program on financial operational and compliance audits and projects within budgeted timeframes.
- Examines and analyzes accounting records operations policies and procedures.
- Determine the validity and propriety of financial records effectiveness of controls efficiency of operations and compliance with laws policies and procedures.
- Applies appropriate audit procedures to the areas reviewed to ensure that controls are tested and significant risks are addressed.
- Identifies develops and presents audit issues and recommendations in written and verbal presentations to various levels of management.
- Works to assist external auditors regulators and other third parties as assigned.
- Plan and organize work in an annual cycle not just project cycle.
- Ensure audit engagements are risk-based and executed according to Internal Audit policies and guidance.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership skills and the ability to assess risks and controls.
- Assess associated risks and controls and complete engagements timely and within the budgeted hours.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to enhance coverage.
- Possess extensive knowledge of banking business processes; policies and procedures; governance practices; and regulatory obligations.
Key qualifications
- Applicant must have a solid understanding of financial reporting requirements banking processes and related laws and regulations.
- Strong critical thinking and conflict management skills are needed.
- Must have a solid knowledge of analytical techniques used to identify and resolve problems.
- Clear and conscience verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to read analyze and interpret complex financial or regulatory documents.
- Review workpapers audit findings risk assessments and documentation in the system of record to ensure that all audit documentation is in line with the Audit Methodology and audit standards.
- Define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Identify and analyze risk as it pertains to the organization.
- Effectively manages and prioritizes workload of self/team to meet and/or exceed expectations; may delegate work per direction of team leader(s); proactively makes leaders aware of conflicting priorities and offers solutions.
