Pre-Employment Drug Testing:
All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments. Testing will also be performed for the presence of marijuana. An applicant with a positive test shall not be offered employment unless the applicant submits medical documentation of legally prescribed medications or a recommendation for medical marijuana.
Pre-Employment Background Investigation:
The final applicant selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicants prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is prohibited from hiring:
- Individuals under a federal or state weapons disability if the position requires firearms certification/recertification and use;
- Individuals who have engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other confinement facility; have been civilly or administratively adjudicated or convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force implied threats of force or if the victim did not or was unable to consent;
- Individuals convicted of soliciting or providing support for an act of terrorism terrorism or money laundering to support terrorism;
- Individuals who have been convicted of or pled guilty to a felony where a direct correlation exists between the position and prior criminal behavior.
What Youll Do:
Starting pay is approximately $58000 based on shift assignments.
Ohio has joined the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) which went into effect January 1 2023. The NLC allows an LPN to hold one multistate license (MSL) in their primary state of residence while practicing virtually or over state lines in 37 other compact states across the country.
- Provides patient care as directed
- Documents patient-related care timely within the electronic health record
- Maintain patient medical records
- Administers medication including oral and intramuscular medications may administer intravenous therapy if appropriately certified
- Performs treatments
- Assists with Doctors Sick Call
- Assists with chronic care clinics management
- Participates in patient care planning and treatment team activities
- Responds to emergencies
- Provides emergency care and collection of patient data
- Collects vital signs and timely documents all findings
- Collects urine and/or other body fluid specimens
- May perform venipuncture in order to obtain blood samples for laboratory analysis
- Prepares patients for release and/or transfer (i.e. Intra-system out to court) by reviewing patient care completing Intra-System Transfer Summaries and/or Release Summaries
- Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and timely forwarded to pharmacy services
- Participates in work-related training and all institution training exercises as assigned.
- Provides assistance to other healthcare staff
- Investigates and documents problem areas and/or areas of concern
- Reviews shift report from preceding shift(s)
- Assist physicians with medical procedures
- Assumes duties of other nurses during absences
- Observes documents and provides nursing support to assistive personnel (i.e. nurse aides psychiatric attendants and/or patient care assistants)
- Provides patient education regarding healthcare maintenance and prevention of disease
- Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
- Performs administrative duties
- Attends meetings
- Schedules multidisciplinary team meetings
- Performs and/or assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies
- Assists ancillary staff including Health Information Technicians and medical schedulers as needed to ensure patient care needs are met
- Must work overtime as required
