About Your Responsibilities
As an Automation Engineer your primary function will be to implement test troubleshoot and improve electronic automation and manufacturing controls systems.
You will check control system specifications/schematics and use software and testing equipment to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions and to develop and define control system applications for various machinery and equipment using technologies platforms such as human machine interfaces (HMIs) data control systems (DCSs) supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) computerized numerical control (CNC) systems or motion control technology ladder logic programming for programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Develop automation design for the contracts allocated within the allocated budget timescales and contractual requirements and in line with current SPX designs.
- Correctly interpret information contained in the contract and develop detailed designs to satisfy technical and commercial requirements of the contract.
- Participate in design reviews.
- Carry out automation engineering design to correct contract requirements and specifications including System Architecture Equipment Specifications and Automation / Functional specifications Software Configuration and Systems Testing.
- Produce other relevant Design documentation commensurate with the requirements of the contract.
- Prepare purchase requisition instructions by interpreting specifications and quotations etc.
- Undertake site surveys and to work on site as required.
- Undertake or support site commissioning/trouble shooting activities.
- Undertake development design work.
- Carry out application proposals work to required scope specification and cost accuracy.
What You Need
- Educated to degree level in Electronics Computing Electrical or similar Engineering Degree.
- Software/ Hardware development tools for PLC / SCADA & DCS (Siemens / Rockwell / Schneider).
- HMI / SCADA Visual programming experience Wonderware InTouch WAS (wonderware application server) WinCC Flexible RSView.
- Knowledge of large scale multi-function multi-country and multi-site project delivery Knowledge of food/beverage regulations/hygiene requirements etc.
- Experience in Estimating procedures and methods.
- Experience in Customer contact/sales support.
- Experience in Word processing / spreadsheets.
- Knowledge and practice of process categories within Food & Beverage would be a distinct benefit.
- Ability to travel at least 20 percent of the time.
