Job Description

Overview

The Certified Patient Accounts Representative II under general supervision is responsible for follow-up functions and timely resolution of assigned accounts. Patient Accounts Representatives may also be responsible for claim submission depending on their assigned accounts.

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for Medicare billing and follow-up.
2. Assist Supervisors with training and re-training of new and current staff.
3. Mentor new and current staff members in all facets of billing and collections with guidance of Supervisor.
4. Timely resolution and collection of assigned account balances on the utilizing Patient Accounting software.
5. Timely submission/transmission of claims and verification of claim acceptance where appropriate for assigned account balances.
6. Completion of daily payment activity reports for assigned account balances.
7. Identification and recognition of reoccurring problems or issue for assigned account balances that delay or impact reimbursement.
8. Interacts effectively with management/peers/internal parties/and external parties to resolve a diverse range of problems encountered in the life cycle of a claim.
9. Performs general accounting transactions via completion of adjustment forms charge correction forms and payment transfer forms.
10. Updates and maintains denial reports and flags in accordance with departmental requirements.
11. Recordation of complete and meaningful account documentation.
12. Reviews and processes correspondence requests for assigned account balances.
13. After determining that all insurance has been processed and paid appropriately changes the financial class to patient liability.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have current CPAT or CCAT certification.

EDUCATION:
Completion of a high school level of course work with attainment of a high school diploma or state high school equivalency is required.
Associates degree or higher in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related discipline preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 1 years experience in hospital/physician office patient accounts or related setting required

Minimum pay range

USD $45176.35/Yr.

Maximum pay range

USD $75492.14/Yr.
