The World Affairs Council is seeking key support for outreach to the community and the office experience for our colleagues. This is a new position and a unique opportunity to build capacity in this well-established and respected organization that works to advance global understanding and cultivate enduring relationships within our local community and with the world.
The Outreach and Operations Coordinator will report to and work closely with the Director of Community Programs and Operations and will work with the entire mission-driven staff to help expand the influence and impact of the World Affairs Council in greater Seattle.

The World Affairs Council of Seattle is a 75 year-old nonpartisan nonprofit organization committed to fostering global understanding and engagement. Through public programs youth education and teacher training and international leadership exchanges we connect the Puget Sound region to the world and empower individuals to think critically about global issues and their local impact.

What Youll Do
This is a newly-created position. We expect the Outreach and Operations Coordinator to be a key member of our small but dynamic team responsible for supporting both internal operations and external communications. This hybrid role is ideal for a highly organized creative and tech-savvy professional who thrives in a mission-driven environment.
This position splits responsibilities evenly between:
Communications Marketing and Event Support (50%)
Office HR and Tech Support (50%)
Depending on experience the title may be adjusted to Officer or Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Outreach and Communications Responsibilities (50%)
Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote Council events programs and initiatives.
Manage social media accounts email campaigns and website updates.
Design promotional materials including flyers newsletters and digital graphics.
Ensure consistency in brand messaging across all communication channels.
Support community engagement efforts by collecting and curating impact stories testimonials and visual content.
Support event logistics including registration guest communications and on-site coordination.
Assist with donor communications and stewardship materials as requested.
Operations Responsibilities
General Operations
Oversee day-to-day office operations including supplies scheduling and vendor relations.
Handle general office correspondence and serve as the first point of contact for visitors and inquiries.
Maintain well-organized digital and physical filing systems and archives to promote organizational efficiency.
Human Resources Coordination
Assist with basic HR support including scheduling onboarding and orientation for new staff/interns.
Support the administration of employee benefits.
Aid in implementing performance management processes and general staff support.
Coordinate the Councils internship program including recruitment onboarding scheduling and providing ongoing support to interns.
Technology and Information Systems
Troubleshoot basic tech issues and liaise with external vendors for additional assistance as needed.
Maintain relationships with IT contractors and service providers.
Assist in planning and budgeting for technology upgrades licenses and tools.
Manage the organizations WordPress website ensuring functionality accuracy and timely updates.
What Were Looking For
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in international relations nonprofits or related field. Equivalent experience considered in place of formal education.
2 years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in digital marketing tools (e.g. Mailchimp Canva WordPress social media platforms).
Familiarity with office software (Microsoft 365 Google Workspace) and basic tech troubleshooting.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with attention to detail.

Compensation
Our compensation philosophy aligns with our values and supports the strategic initiatives guiding the Councils work. The key principles that guide our approach to compensation:

Understand the market: Benchmark base pay levels and practices against peer organizations (like-size/budget non-profits in King County) and pay within industry norms.
Equity in the workplace: We are committed to providing equal pay for equal work within the Council with allowable pay differences based on factors not prohibited by law. While fairness is fundamental individuals bring different experience levels and skills to roles that are themselves sometimes different compensation reflects these meaningful differences and varies accordingly.
The salary for this position will depend on experience past achievement and equity within the organization. Benefits package includes medical dental and vision insurance; life insurance; and generous paid time off. Orca pass and phone stipend included.
Salary Range: $44000-$52000 (depending on experience and position title)
