Job Description
Summary:
As a full-time Civil Engineering Technician with the City of Novi you will play a crucial role in supporting the Department of Public Works-Engineering Divisions activities. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the review and permitting processes as well as inspecting work conducted by private entities within the public right-of-way and easements. You will also oversee contracts and tackle various municipal engineering tasks ensuring that projects meet the highest standards of safety and integrity.
Responsibilities include:
- Performs field inspections for all right-of-way permits or construction projects as assigned by Engineering staff.
- Effectively executes contractual oversight of all assigned service contracts.
- Examines inquiries and complaints of the public and other City departments.
- Performs special studies research and projects as assigned.
- Assists Engineering Division staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Graduate or currently enrolled in a recognized college university or institution with a minimum of an Associates degree in civil engineering construction management environmental engineering or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred. Relevant work experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook Word Excel and Publisher) as well as ARC Map GIS and/or AutoCAD programs.
- Must hold a valid drivers license.
- Shall have the ability to obtain a certification in the following within 12 months of hire:
- 1)Pavement Surface Evaluation and Rating (PASER)
- 2) Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control (SESC)
Salary: $58000-$68000 per year depending on qualifications
