Building Support Officer Building & Compliance
Buller District Council Westport New Zealand
Permanent Full-time 32 Hours per week

Are you an organised detail-oriented administrator with a knack for navigating regulations and a passion for public service Buller District Council is looking for a Building Support Officer to support our building & compliance teams.

What Will You Do Ka aha koe
Key responsibilities will include:


Building Control Administration

  • Vetting processing and issuing building consents
  • Maintaining templates and the BCA Quality Assurance Manual
  • Reviewing systems and ensuring up-to-date documentation is available to the public
  • Ensuring compliance and identifying/reporting non-compliance

Compliance Support

  • Administering and following up on service requests
  • Supporting reporting and trend analysis of non-compliance activities
  • Providing admin support and coordination for the Compliance Manager

Team & Council Support

  • Scheduling and minuting meetings
  • Managing electronic and hard copy records
  • Supporting broader Regulatory Services initiatives and emergency management efforts

Who Are You Ko wai koe
We are looking for someone with:

  • Proven administrative experience preferably in Building or Compliance
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the Building Act 2004 or similar regulatory framework
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong general computer skills
  • Able to manage time balance workloads and work independently or in a team
  • Integrity attention to detail and a solutions-focused mindset
  • A current NZ drivers licence

Desirable:

  • Experience in a local government or regulatory environment
  • Familiarity with construction industry practices and legislation
