Job Description

Location: Auckland or Christchurch

Were looking for a highly motivated Health Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager located either in Auckland or Christchurch to lead our safety and sustainability journey across the group nationwide.

What Youll Do

In this role youll be the driving force behind our safety culture leading strategy systems and engagement both internally with staff and externally with contractors suppliers and HSE professionals.

Key responsibilities include:

Promoting a Safety Culture

  • Model best practice HSE leadership and provide expert practical advice across the business.
  • Champion health safety and wellbeing initiatives to build strong engagement with employees contractors and suppliers.
  • Foster a positive proactive safety culture through training communication and support.

Systems & Policies

  • Develop implement and continually improve HSE systems policies and procedures.
  • Stay up to date with NZ regulations industry codes of practice and best practice standards.
  • Lead investigations audits and reporting to drive compliance and continual improvement.
  • Oversee risk management and workplace safety initiatives with a focus on critical risk mitigation.
  • Developing and delivering HSE training programs to employees.
  • Manage environmental impact assessments waste reduction and ensure compliance with our Toit carbon certification.

Customer Service & Leadership

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the business.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and teams resolving HSE challenges effectively.
  • Travel as required across our nationwide dealerships.

About You

Youll be an experienced safety leader who brings both technical expertise and strong people skills. Youll have:

  • 5 years HSE experience ideally in transport automotive or similar industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of NZ HSE legislation and best practice.
  • Proven experience in critical risk mitigation.
  • Excellent communication coaching and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical ability with experience in data-driven reporting and solutions.
  • Relevant tertiary or professional qualification in Health & Safety or Management.
