Part-Time Community Outreach Support Alpha Network Team

Who we are:

Alpha Public Schools is a public charter school network of four schools educating approximately 1900 scholars in east San Jose. Guided by the belief that our students belong in college we ensure safe inclusive and student-centered learning environments to help our students thrive. Alpha was founded by a group of mothers on the eastside of San Jose who sought better educational opportunities for their students. We maintain a strong connection to our community and engage families in a collaborative approach to offer a holistic education to our students.

A successful Alpha Team Member:

The successful Alpha team member will help engage new families and register their students at one of Alphas four schools. This is a part-time position that is expected to work hours in the afternoon evenings and often on the weekend. The ideal candidate displays characteristics of a strong sales person and knows how to effectively communicate with others. A growth mindset customer service driven mindset and strong mission alignment will be the defining characteristics of successful applicants.

The hourly rate for this role is $18.82.

What youll do

Recruitment

• Generate high-quality family leads by conducting door-to-door canvassing and community outreach to meet new families and encourage them to get to know Alpha
• Distribute marketing materials
• Input and organize data gathered from canvassing outreach and phone-banking activities
• Report progress on a weekly basis

Relationship Building

• Build relationships with parents neighbors community agencies and various community groups to inspire and motivate families to join the Alpha community
• Support planning and execution of regular family events such as open houses small gatherings at homes of neighborhood families ands speaking engagements with community groups
• Conduct home visits and information sessions including presentations to families and answering questions about Alpha

Student Enrollment

• Place calls to families to set up home visits 1-on-1 meetings and information session attendance
• Follow-up with families to remind them about events and outstanding enrollment documents

You Possess

• Knowledge and cultural competence of the local student and parent community
• Bilingual in Spanish
• This position requires reliable transportation within San Jose a flexible schedule and a willingness to work on weekends and evening hours as events demand
• Basic computer skills--typing GoogleDrive
