GFL Environmental is looking for Spare Drivers to join our Residential Collection team in Coquitlam British Columbia!

Applicants must hold a Class 5 license with Air Brake Endorsement

As the faces of GFL our Solids Residential Spare Drivers support residential collection services on an as-needed basis. Spare Drivers fill in for full-time drivers during absences vacations or peak business needs. This role is a great fit for individuals looking for flexible work while still making an impact in their community.

The primary focus of this role is to collect and transport waste from assigned residential routes to our GFL facilities where all materials are properly disposed of. This is a highly physical role individuals must be able to exert muscle force to lift push pull or carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively using proper lifting techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fill in on residential/recycling collection routes as assigned

  • Manually load recyclable waste into the rear or side of the collection vehicle

  • Operate a residential / recycling collection side-load and hydraulic system to collect solid waste and/or recyclables

  • Operate truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures

  • Maintain route quality standards as predetermined by management

  • Exhibit a professional demeanor manner and appearance at all times (i.e. meeting customers and/or the general public while on route or in uniform)

  • Maintain accurate records of services performed

Requirements:

  • Must possess a Class 5 Drivers License with Air Brake Endorsement

  • Ability to exert muscle force to lift push pull or carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively using proper lifting techniques

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment

  • Flexibility to work varied shifts on short notice
