35 hours per week with access to Councils Agile Work Policy.

Salary Range:Commencing from $68051.36 (Grade 7 step 1 including Level 2 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance) plus 12% superannuation equals total salary package of $76218.00.

The successful candidate will have access to step increases for the grade based on competency assessment and tenure within this position.

Council Overview

Strathfield Council is a medium sized Council located in Sydneys Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46000 residents which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections the population will increase to over 60000 by 2041.

About the Opportunity

Strathfield Council is seeking a reliable and skilled Street Sweeping Plant Operator for a new position within a new team.

The position is a hands-on role responsible for delivering high-quality street sweeping services across the Municipality ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely. It involves operating equipment in line with safety protocols identifying and addressing risks and maintaining safe working conditions.

The role requires strong teamwork and communication respectful customer interactions and upholding the Councils professional standards.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated high level of organisational skills to manage multiple tasks exercise initiative and meet deadlines.
  • A current Class MR Drivers License.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving various vehicles and plant for operation.
  • Ability to work early shift and flexible hours as required.
  • Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team and independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to record data use operational technology such as smart phone or tablet and to effectively carry out verbal and written directions.
  • High level of verbal numeracy and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of and commitment to quality customer service.
  • Traffic Control Work Implement Traffic Control Plans and Traffic Controller.
  • Ability to communicate to a level that enables the accurate interpretation of instructions.

Desirable

  • Certificate for General Construction Induction (CIC White Card) NSW.
  • Experience in the use of handheld equipment operation and driving the full range of street cleaning equipment plant and trucks.
  • Demonstrated experience in the supervision and leadership of small teams.
