MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography computing business and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics including quantum information condensed matter physics biophysics and photonics. Over the years SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

The Nanyang Quantum Hub at SPMS is currently seeking Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow for a special focus project led by Mile Gu on Quantum-Enhanced Intelligent Agents - with a focus on the following the big questions:

  • What are the fundamental resources behind complex adaptive behaviour

  • How do such limits differ depending on whether we use a class of quantum information processing

  • Can quantum agents under resource constraints or energy perform better at various adaptive games

  • How can we best train quantum agents using a combination of classical and quantum techniques

  • Can quantum agents learn from less data or be more expressive

Key Responsibilities:

  • Task in investigating the big scientific questions cantered thematically around quantum-enhanced agents learning and intelligence which will involve interfacing ideas fromquantum information quantum thermodynamics statistical learning theory and complexity science.

  • Assist in preparation of scientific manuscripts in quantum-agents and related research areas in high impact scientific journals and conference proceedings.

  • Supervise PhD students in quantum agents and related areas of research.

  • Conduct research in quantum-agents and related areas of research.

  • Organise inter-group discussions in topical areas related to quantum agents

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in theoretical quantum information science or foundations and/or machine-learning foundations.

  • Excellent English verbal/written communication skills is essential to conduct research.

  • Record of high impact publications related to quantum information science and/or machine-learning foundations.

  • Ability to communicate technique ideas to interdisciplinary scientific audiences.

  • Prior research experience in quantum machine learning statistical learning theory computational mechanics quantum algorithms quantum resources and quantum thermodynamics are welcome.

The College of Science seeks a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equality of opportunity. We welcome applications from all and recruit on the basis of merit regardless of age race gender religion marital status and family responsibilities or disability.
