Your Team

The Design Enablement - Digital department is part of the Chief Technology Office (CTO) in NXP. It is located at various sites including the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. The technical scope of the EMIR team involves topics such as electromigration IR-drop analysis and substrate noise analysis. Within this scope for the latest technologies the impact of temperature is becoming increasingly important. With the advancement of IC manufacturing nodes and increasing power density accounting for thermal effects has become crucial. Heat-related issues in IC and package design impact electromigration timing memory reliability and accelerated aging. We are currently looking for a student for a 9 month internship for investigating and enhancing the IC design analysis by including the thermal effects on both power and power grid.

Your Responsibilities

  • Investigation of existing methods for thermal analysis and verification in IC/package design

  • Examination of heat-related issue detection and prevention strategies

  • Application of the findings to representative NXP design test cases

  • Automation of design flow processes

Your Profile

  • Education: Bachelor or Master of Science differentiation Microelectronics

  • Experience with EDA tools is recommended.

  • Basic knowledge of IC and PCB design techniques.

  • Familiarity with the Linux environment and Python programming.

  • Proficiency in English (CEFR B2 or equivalent) for participation in international meetings presentations and documentation.

Duration

This is a full-time internship (40 hours per week) with a duration of 9 months or longer. The assignment could also be suitable as a thesis/graduation project. Please note that in order to be considered for an internship/working student assignment you need to be registered as a student during the entire period.
