DeltaV Engineer

Kalamazoo MI (On-site with up to 25% travel)

Job Description

We are seeking a DeltaV Engineer to join our team in Kalamazoo MI. As a DeltaV Engineer you will play a critical role in designing and implementing advanced Emerson DeltaV automation solutions for the Life Sciences industry.

Working within a dynamic system integration environment you will be part of a team responsible for delivering high-quality fit-for-purpose regulatory-compliant automation that supports biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing. Responsibilities

  • Develop configure and implement Emerson DeltaV control systems in alignment with customer specifications company standards and industry best practices.
  • Design and program DeltaV batch processes per ISA-88 standards.
  • Collaborate with clients in the life sciences industry to gather requirements and develop customized automation solutions.
  • Engineer system architecture instrument specifications and control strategies to optimize manufacturing efficiency.
  • Configure DeltaV controllers applications HMI and historian solutions while ensuring compliance with GAMP5 cGMP and 21 CFR Part 11 regulations.
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to validate system performance.
  • Provide on-site startup commissioning and troubleshooting support.
  • Ensure compliance with software development life cycle methodologies and validation documentation.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (electrical engineers process engineers validation engineers project managers) to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians fostering knowledge-sharing and professional growth.

Must Have

  • Stable work history.
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Control Systems Engineering Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Life Science/Pharma industry experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV systems (design implementation configuration) and PLC.
  • Experience with ISA-88 Batch Processing and DeltaV Batch configuration.
  • Familiarity with automation protocols: Ethernet/IP Modbus TCP/IP Profibus OPC Foundation Fieldbus HART.
  • Strong knowledge of GAMP5 cGMP and 21 CFR Part 11.
  • Experience conducting FAT/SAT startup and commissioning.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex automation projects.
  • Strong communication skills for technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% and work extended hours/weekends if required.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of historian systems alarm management and advanced control strategies.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking (controllers HMIs servers).
  • Exposure to Rockwell Automation Siemens PCS7 or other DCS/SCADA platforms.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and electrical design principles.
  • Experience with loop tuning and process control optimization.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or technicians.
  • Background in translating functional specifications into detailed software design.
  • Previous experience in mission-critical or regulated environments.
  • Professional references from a peer and a manager.

Working Conditions

  • Office Work: Desk/cubicle environment with frequent use of computers engineering tools and industrial control systems.
  • Physical Demands: Occasional lifting climbing and on-site work during commissioning. May include weekends holidays night shifts or extended hours to meet deadlines.
