Position: Technical Sales Representative
We are seeking a full-time Technical Sales Representative to support the growth of sales across a range of customers including academic institutions prime contractors OEMs and national laboratories. This role involves working closely with senior sales personnel to respond to technical sales opportunities and support customers throughout the sales process.
Sales engagements are typically highly technical and the successful candidate will be supported by both the sales and technical teams. Occasional domestic and international travel to conferences and trade shows may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with prospective and existing customers to support product sales.
- Generate quotations for both standard and custom optical components.
- Manage order acceptance and coordinate hand-off to the production team.
- Review purchase terms and conditions to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Provide initial troubleshooting support to customers when needed.
- Contribute to marketing efforts including newsletters and press releases.
- Collaborate with senior sales personnel on emerging opportunities.
- Engage the technical team when necessary to address complex customer inquiries.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or higher in a technical field (e.g. Physics Chemistry Engineering)
- Strong interest in technical sales
- Basic understanding of optics and photonics components
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel PowerPoint Word Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- U.S. Citizenship
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in a technical sales role
- 2 years working with optical components including electro-optic modulators and frequency conversion devices
- Familiarity with CRM software
