You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) is hiring a BGS Maintenance Mechanic II to join the Operations and Maintenance team at the Waterbury State Office Complex. This is a full-time opportunity with room for growth in a dynamic inclusive environment that supports collaboration across trades.
In this role youll be responsible for a variety of routine building maintenance tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of a large mission-driven facility. Youll work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with occasional overtime opportunities. A valid drivers license is required along with the successful completion of several background checks.
As part of the largest division within BGS youll play a key role in keeping state operations running efficiently.
Starting pay may be negotiable based on your experience and education.

Duties are performed at state buildings including correctional facilities. Contact with inmates may be anticipated. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Must be able to climb ladders lift weights up to 75 pounds and work in cramped wet or poorly ventilated areas. Plumbing repairs often entail exposure to raw sewage for which protective clothing must be worn. Work in all types of weather should be anticipated. May require possession of a valid drivers license. May require emergency response to calls outside of regular work hours. Some potential for physical injury may be present.
Two (2) or more years of experience in building construction structural maintenance or building repair and maintenance.
Completion of a vocational/technical training program in building trades mechanical repair industrial arts or a closely related field.
Some positions in this class may require a valid drivers license and/or own transportation for travel between work sites.
A criminal record check and/or child abuse registry check may be required for some positions within this class based on the locations where duties are to be performed.
