Essential functions of this job include but are not limited to:
- Effectively orients and trains supervised employees in job duties.
- Coordinates performance evaluation meeting with LPN/RN and Nursing Supervisor.
- In conjunction with the Nursing Supervisor effectively addresses disciplinary issues with employees; accurately and thoroughly documents in action logs.
- Assists Nursing Supervisor with ensuring employees meet minimum training requirements and monitors training attendance.
- Resolves any issues or problems as directed by the Nursing Supervisor.
- Completes new hire training plan and ensures training is in accordance with Agency policies and procedures. Ensured staff uploads completed training plan in UKG for training credit.
- Maintains an active presence on the floor to observe shift and ensure orderly operating of shift. Provides immediate redirection to nurses and line staff regarding interactions that impact the shift and client care.
- Receives call-offs when working On Call shift. Contacts other LPNs/RNs and/or Nursing Supervisor to fill shifts and ensures adequate facility staffing. Notifies Nursing Supervisor of all call-offs.
- Identifies and resolves problems that may occur during a shift and informs Nursing Supervisor and Clinical Administrator of status and/or any needed follow up in a timely manner.
- Maintains open communication with Clinical Administrator and Nursing Supervisor to keep them apprised of any staffing shift facility and safety issues.
- Identifies and prioritizes client care needs using client history and nursing assessment.
- Works under the supervision of a CNP/physician during examinations and treatment.
- Participates in the development of staff training and presents information on medical issues including but not limited to: signs and symptoms of Substance Use Disorders emotional disturbances universal precautions/standard precautions disease transmission medication policy CPR and First Aid.
- Accurately counts records and maintains a secured storage area for all prescription medications sharps syringes and other medical equipment within unit.
- Maintains accountability of medical equipment and supplies.
- Observes reports thoroughly and accurately documents and evaluates clients conditions and responses to care in Care Logic ECR and Medication Administration Record.
- Assists nursing supervisor with overseeing completion of documents from nursing staff in clients Care Logic ECR.
- Assists nursing supervisor with ensuring quick releases and incident reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Provides direction to the nursing team after clinical meeting and from Nursing Supervisor.
- Provides situational assistance with direct client care.
- Provides direct client care. Recognizes and interprets clients conditions and responses to therapy.
- Encourages the utilization of positive reinforcement in the treatment of clients and assures that all clients receive equitable care.
- Confers with Clinicians Clinical Coordinator and treatment agencies to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of clients statuses.
- Monitors training of staff and assists with training of peers as directed by the Nursing Supervisor.
- Maintains a current knowledge of substance use and mental health nursing.
QUALIFICATIONS: Registered Nurse with a valid Ohio License required. Five (5) years of nursing experience with one (1) year in behavioral health preferred. Maintains required licensure/certification in good standing. Must have the ability to effectively work with Agency employees outside contacts and a diverse client population.
