Now Hiring: Field Engineer Dredging Division
As the marine construction and dredging industry continues to grow so does our team. Were currently looking for a Field Engineer to join us and help lead critical field operations.
n this role youll be responsible for conducting hydrographic surveys (multibeam and/or single beam) managing and processing survey data and preparing daily production reports related to dredging time volume and work completed. Youll also provide key technical support to dredge crews ensuring they have the information needed to operate efficiently and safely each day.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform and process multibeam and/or single beam hydrographic surveys
  • Create and manage survey files and project data
  • Provide daily production reporting for active dredging operations
  • Support field crews with technical insight and plan coordination
Location:
This position is based primarily in the Southeast United States (Florida North Carolina South Carolina Alabama Louisiana Texas) or San Francisco Bay Area but will occasionally require travel to project sites throughout the country. Onsite presence during dredging operations is essential.
Preferred Skills & Tools:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Familiarity with GPS RTK and R2 Sonic setup.
  • Familiarity with Hypack AutoCAD HCSS HeavyJob and Vista is a strong plus
  • Solid organizational and communication skills
  • Field-savvy and ready to adapt to a dynamic work environment
Full Position Summary:
As a Field Engineer you will coordinate and oversee the planning organization and execution of engineering tasks across assigned dredging and marine construction projects. Youll exercise both field and office-based responsibilities to ensure projects are completed on time within scope and in compliance with safety and quality standards. This role may include supervising junior staff or subcontractors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Hydrographic Surveying
    Conduct multibeam and/or single beam hydrographic surveys and process survey data to generate accurate and usable products for field engineering and reporting use.
  • Topographic / RTK Surveying
  • Conduct topographic surveys and process survey data to generate accurate and usable products for beach and upland fill sites is a strong plus.
  • Survey Data & File Management
  • Maintain organized survey files and records for all project-related activities to support planning reporting and compliance.
  • Survey Control & Positioning Systems
    Set up and quality-check project survey control points. Configure and verify GPS-based equipment positioning systems ensuring accurate integration with hardware and software.
  • Project Documentation & Submittals
    Prepare and submit project submittals including Work Plans Quality Control Plans Safety Plans and Environmental Plans. Maintain the submittal log to track approvals and updates.
  • Project Coordination & Administration
    Support the development and tracking of RFIs project schedules and cost projections. Assist with coordination between field and office teams to ensure effective communication and execution.
  • Production Tracking & Reporting
    Monitor and report daily productivity on project activities to the Operations team. Identify and address deviations from plan in a timely manner.
  • Contract Documentation Support
    Assist in the preparation and pricing of Contract Change Orders helping to document and justify scope adjustments or additional work.
  • Monthly Project Financials -Contribute to the preparation and tracking of:
    • Monthly pay estimates
    • Actual vs. budget cost reports
    • Estimated cost and revenue-at-completion reports
    • Revenue adjustments due to quantity variations and delivery changes

QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education/Experience: Bachelors degree (B. A. or B.S.) from four-year college; Associate degree(A.A. or A.S.) in Construction Management Surveying or Similar Fields; at least three years experience with project engineering in Marine Construction or Dredging without a degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Ability: strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers clients and customers.
  • Reasoning Ability: ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions given in written oral diagram or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: to perform this job successfully an individual should be Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiarity with Hypack AutoCAD HCSS HeavyJob and Vista is a strong plus.
  • Physical Presence: Regular and predictable physical presence at assigned work location is an essential qualification for this position due to the importance of the team-related aspects of the essential duties the aggressive timeframes under which the employee will operate and the need for face-to-face interaction with employees in order to properly perform job-related functions.
  • Ability to travel as needed for projects. Regular schedule is 19 days on 9 days off. Per-diem provided when traveling for assigned projects.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This position entails giving verbal and written direction to onsite surveyors and subcontractors.
